Carapace, chelipeds and ambulatory legs thickly covered with felt-like short hairs; dorsal surface of carapace also covered with sparse fine, short curly hairs, and armed with many spines disposed symmetrically; median spines are ten in number, and the convex hapatic margin armed with two; most of spines not much different in size from each other, but posterior one of two hepatic spines and two distant spines on branchial border and posterior one of two intestinal spines may be larger than the others. Supraorbital spine curved obliquely forward and upward, and external orbital spine directed obliquely outward. Rostral horns slightly divergent, their length being about one-fourth to one-fifth as long as carapace. Chelipeds of male long, but not swollen; merus armed with five spines on upper border and three equidistant rows of tubercles; outer surface of carpus and proximal upper part of palm with several small tubercles of veriable size. Ambulatory legs cylindrical; merus of first pair sometimes armed with some small tubercles on its anterior border.
