Carapace pyriform and covered rather sparsely with granules tipped each with a straight or curly seta; gastric, branchial and cardiac regions separated by wide and shallow furrows; cardiac region low, conical, with an obtuse tuberculate apex. Rostrum with two processes which are deeply separated by a median U-shaped sinus. Postocular tooth very prominent, directing laterally. Basal segment of antenna large, with five small tubercles along outer margin, having a longitudinal high plate-like crest. Chelipeds not so large even in male; small granules and sparse setae on upper margin of each segment; in male chela palm swollen, and a wide gape left between both fingers; a molar-like tooth on prehensile edge of movable finger, and distal halves of both fingers minutely toothed. Ambulatory legs slender and fringed with curly hairs.

Previously known from Puerto Rico and northern Brazil, 10-22 m deep.
