Teeth on jaws canine-like, usually a pair of anteriormost teeth on upper jaw longest. Tips of teeth not arrow-headed. Spinous and soft portions of dorsal fin with a deep notch, or if any completely divided, a gap between them extremely shorter than base of spinous dorsal fin. (Species):Side of body including breast covered with ctenoid scales. Soft dorsal and anal fins covered with scales at least half. Posterior margin of upper jaw not extending beyond center of eye. Eye diameter 21.1〜21.7% of HL. Dorsal side of body without dark spot. Length of pectoral fin longer than pelvic fin. Dorsal soft rays 23〜27, anal soft rays usually 9, and gill rakers 9〜13 (Chao, 1978).
