(Genus):Dorsal spines 12, dorsal soft rays less than 10; lateral-line scales with tube and pore; cranium robust with supraocular and postocular spines; no occipital pit; body covered with ctenoid scales; lateral line complete, reaching caudal fin base; pectoral rays unbranched; a part of preorbital bone overlapping maxillary, with 2 spines; supplemental preopercular spine present. (Species):Dorsal soft rays 9〜10; pectoral rays 16〜18; snout length almost equal to orbit diameter; 3rd dorsal spine not elongated.
