(Species):Pectoral fins long, extending beyond origin of anal fin. No cheek photophores. No luminous scale at base of adipose fin. SAO1 posterior to VO3. Prc2〜4 almost in a straight line. Prc narrowly separate from AOp. VLO slightly posterior to VO1. INGL extending along entire ventral aspect of caudal peduncle. Gill rakers 4+1+10 (rarely 9 or 11), total 15 (14〜16)*. Eye diamter 2.8〜3.2 in upper jaw*. Origin of adipose fin directly above 2nd AOP. Procurrent caudal rays 6 (dorsal)/6 (ventral).
Distribution:
Tropical waters of Atlantic Ocean. Off Suriname.
Remarks:
L. vadulus is closely related to L. nobilis which is characterized by smaller eye (eye diameter 3.5〜3.9 in upper jaw*), lower gill raker count, and higher count of procurrent caudal rays. * Reference data from Hulley (1981). (Fujii)
