(Genus):Base of dorsal fin about equal to that of anal. Four Prc. Caudal luminous glands absent. PVO in line with PO1. Five PO, PO4 highly elevated. Five VO, VO2〜3 progressively elevated. A luminous scale at PLO. (Species):A large, roundish Vn below the pupil. Ant and So absent. SAO3 and Pol 1.5-2 times its diameter below lateral line. AOa1 well elevated about at level of SAO2. Pelvic fin not reaching to origin of anal fin. SAO1 below or slightly posterior to SAO2.

Remarks:
This form, which apparently belong to Diaphus suborbitalis-termophilus species complex (including 6 recognized species), is distinguished from its congeners by the position of photophores, the length of the pelvic fin, and the gill raker counts. (Fujii)
