Counts：D 15〜16; A 17; P1 11; GR 4+1+8〜9; SLL 37. Photophores damaged and uncountable.
特 徴：
（属）：背鰭基底は臀鰭基底とほぼ同長。尾鰭前発光器は4個。尾柄部発光腺はない。第1〜2胸鰭下発光器と第1胸部発光器は一直線をなす。第4胸部発光器は著しく高位。第2〜3腹部発光器は漸進的に高位となる。胸鰭上発光器に発光鱗がある。（種）：鼻部背側発光器と鼻部腹側発光器は両方とも小さい。眼下発光器と眼前上部発光器はない。胸鰭上発光器は側線よりも胸鰭基底に近い（図）。鰓耙数は4+1+8〜本。眼上骨に棘がない。腹鰭上発光器は腹鰭基底よりも側線に近い。第3肛門上発器と体側後部発光器は側線より下方に発光器1〜1.5個分だけ離れている。第1後部臀鰭発光器は臀鰭基底の上方にある。
分 布：
三大洋の熱帯水域。模式産地-西部北大西洋。（藤井）
Distinctive characters：
(Genus)：Base of dorsal fin about equal to that of anal. Four Prc. Caudal luminous gland absent. PVO in line with PO1. Five PO, PO4 highly elevated. Five VO, VO2〜3 progressively elevated. A luminous scale at PLO. (Species)：Both Dn and Vn small. So and Ant absent. PLO nearer to base of pectoral fin than to lateral line (Fig.). Gill rakers 4+1+8〜9. Supraorbital spine absent. VLO nearer to lateral line than to base of pelvic fin. SAO3 and Pol 1〜1.5 times their diameters below lateral line. First AOp over base of anal fin.
Distribution：
Tropical waters of three major oceans. Type locality-western North Atlantic. (Fujii)
