Carapace longitudinally quadrate, only slightly widening poste-riorly; surface convex from side to side and somewhat scaly, with short transverse elevations of variable shape and size; a small, more or less pointed elevation each on gastric region, posterior part of cardiac region and median part of posterior border of carapace; an anterolateral tooth conical. Rostrum rather wide at its base and tapering distally, but strongly curved dorsally at about distal two-thirds. Cornea very large, without pigments. Each of second to fourth abdominal segments ornamented with a transverse strong ridge and with a median strong spine which is strongly curved dorsally. Chelipeds armed with spines on merus. Ambulatory legs comparatively short, and posterior border of dactylus with series of spinules.
Distribution:
Previously known from the Gulf of Mexico, and near Grenada in the Lesser Antilles, 270-810 m deep.
