General shape of carapace characteristic for Munida; three pairs of spines of protogastric region in a transverse line; lateral part of gastric region, hepatic region and anterior inner part of branchial region armed each with a spine; a long anterolateral spine and a small one just behind it, and three on hepatic margin and one at anterior end of branchial margin. Rostral spine long and more than twice the length of supraorbital spine which is as long as anterolateral spine of carapace. Only second abdominal segment with four equidistant spines on its anterior margin. Chelipeds long and armed with spines on borders and upper surfaces; fingers longer than palm, and in fully grown male immovable finger convex downward at its proximal part and leaving a wide gape between both fingers. Ambulatory legs with spines on meri and carpi.

Previously known only from the Gulf of Mexico and north of Cuba, 80-325 m deep.
