Characteristic in having very long chelipeds extending more than three times as long as carapace. No definite markings, but short marginal hairs on transverse striae of carapace and abdomen, and on scaly sculpture of chelipeds and ambulatory legs are yellow and iridescent. A pair of spines on protogastric region, a small lateral gastric spine and some spinules just behind cervical groove; anterolateral spine long, but shorter than supraorbital spine, and just behind it is a small spine; four equidistant spines on hepatic margin, and one at anterior end of branchial margin. Rostral spine very long and weakly curved upward, being twice as long as supraorbital spine. Inner distal spine of antennular basal segment more than twice the length of outer spine. Meri of chelipeds and ambulatory legs with small distant spines. Fingers as long as palm. Only second abdominal segment with a pair of small spines.

Previously known from the West Atlantic from off Massachusetts through the Gulf of Mexico to the Lesser Antilles and from off the Cape Verde Islands in the East Atlantic, 85-540 m deep.
