Carapace elongate and convex from side to side; dorsal surface covered with rather sparse long hairs and long spines arranged symmetrically; a total of 14 spines on dorsal surface, viz., one pair of spines on protogastric region, one pair on posterior part of gastric region, two pairs on cardiac region, three pairs on branchial region; in addition, five spines on lateral border of carapace including anterolateral spine of carapace. Rostral spine markedly long and armed with a spine at median part of each side, which is directed obliquely forward. Basal segments of antennule and antenna and third maxilliped also with some prominent spines. Second abdominal segment with four spines, and third and fourth segments each with six spines. Chelipeds hairy, and merus and carpus with long spines on margins. Ambulatory legs also hairy and spinose.

West Atlantic from the Gulf of Mexico through the Lesser Antilles to Brazil, 270-1,000 m deep.
