特 徴：
体は側扁し，体高は高い。体長は体高の2.0～2.1倍。上顎の後端は眼の前縁下に位置する。下顎の下面に1対の小孔と1縦溝がある。前鰓蓋骨の縁辺部は細かな鋸歯状を呈する。尾鰭は2叉する。背鰭と臀鰭の軟条部の基部は鱗を被る。体の地色は青味のある銀色で，口角から眼を通り前頭部に向かう黒色帯があり，背鰭棘起部から胸鰭基部に向かう黒色横帯がある。この黒色横帯から後方の体側には7～8本の黄色縦線が走る。鰭はすべて黄色で，背鰭棘条部の縁辺と尾鰭の後縁は黒色。
分 布：
フロリダからバハマ諸島をへてブラジルまでの浅海。
備 考：
本種は同属のA. surinamensisから頭部に2本の黒色帯をもつことで容易に識別できる。

Distinctive characters：
Body deep and compreessed, body depth 2.0～2.1 in SL. Posterior edge of upper jaw reaching to below anterior margin of eye. Two pores and a median groove on chin. Preopercle finely serrated. Basal parts of soft dorsal and anal fins covered with scales. Caudal fin deeply emarginate. Body silver with a blue cast; a diagonal black band from corner of mouth through eye to nape, another black band passing from origin of first dorsal spine to base of pectoral fin; 7～8 longitudinal yellow stripes running on side of body; edges of spiny dorsal and caudal fins black, other fins yellow.
Distribution：
Shallow waters along the coasts from Florida through Bahamas to Brazil.
Remarks：
This species is easily separable from the congener, A. surinamensis, by having 2 black bands on the anterior part of the body.
