Height 62 mm, breadth 31mm. Shell thick, solid, short fusiform, with elongate siphonal canal. Earlier teleoconch is cancellated but later only spiral ribs become dominant and varix comes into appearance from the penultimate whorl. Spiral ribs 4 in number on the penultimate whorl with many intercalated ones and low knobs on the ribs. Shell pale reddish, with 2 white bands only on the varix. Periostracum hairy, raised along growth lines. Aperture oval with thickened outer-lip because of the last varix with 7 white denticles inside. Pale reddish callus deposited on the inner to columellar lips carrying several spiral folds on the brownish red blotch thereupon. Siphonal canal long, tapering, slightly recurved.
Distribution:
South Carolina to Florida, West Indies, Bermuda and Brazil.
Remarks:
This species is close to the Western Pacific C. (R.) sinensis, but differs from it in having roundish apical outline.
