Height 157 mm, breadth 77mm. Shell thick, solid, with rather high spires and elongated anterior canal. Spires with spiral ribs, shouldered, narrows anteriorly. Body whorl with prominent shoulder and spiral ribs, especially elevated on the dorsum. Varices present every 240° turn. Surface reddish brown except on varices where alternate with white and dark brown. Aperture broad with thickened outer-lip of which the apical corner rather pointed. White callus deposited from inner to columellar lips with a strong columellar fold. Slit-like umbilicus perforated between fasciole and extension of the columellar lip. Radula of taenoglossate; central trapezoid with 7 cusps; lateral with 1 large 3 small cusps; marginals sickle-shaped unicuspid.
