Carapace transversely ovate, being 1.3 to 1.45 times as broad as long; dorsal surface almost smooth, with only faint indications of eight transverse rows of tubercles. Anterolateral border of carapace arched, crested narrowly, and cut into 11 teeth, each of which is again divided into three. Angle between antero-and posterolateral borders not strong, lying behind the broadest part of carapace. Posterolateral border fringed with strong crest made a double row of tubercles; an inconspicuous incision anteriorly and a small angle posteriorly. Carapace ornamented by scattered blotches of variable numder, size and shape; in some specimens blotches elongated and arranged transversely to form some series or almost lines.
