Carapace distinctly winder than long, with arched anterolateral border; dorsal surface uneven with low prominences and five longitudinal ridges, being thickly and finely punctate. Anterolateral border of carapace with a linear ridge beaded with fine granules. Posterolateral border armed with four tuberculated teeth, which are directed obliquely backward with tips curved forward. Posterior border trilobate. Chelipeds as in other calappids; submarginal crest of merus weakly developed and cut into about five teeth; outer surface of palm with several conical tubercles, and upper border cut into seven, closely set teeth. Ambulatory legs long, with lower borders of meri spinose.
Distribution:
Known only by the holotype from the Old Bahama Channel, Cuba, 270-325 m deep.
Remarks:
Another representative, P. milneedwardsi Miers from the north of Admiralty Islands and southern Japan, is distinctly different from this species mainly in the shape of the carapace, the lack of teeth on the posterior border of carapace and the different armature of ambulatory legs
