特 徴：
体長9cm。クルマエビ類としては小形種で，頭胸甲および腹甲は短毛でおおわれているが，鰓域は一般に毛が少ない。肝上棘は明瞭。肝溝と眼窩触角溝ははっきりしているが，頸溝は浅い。触角上棘の上部から頭胸甲の中央部まで縦走する縫合線が不明瞭ながら認められる。額角は第2触角第2節の中央部に達する。上縁は弱く湾曲し，7〜9歯あり，いずれも額角上縁に沿ってとげ状。胃上棘の前部でくびれ，額角との境が明瞭。頭胸甲の背縁は胃上棘に続いて稜をなすが，後縁近くで消滅する。第3顎脚，第1，2胸脚には基節にとげがある。腹部は第3節後半から第6節にかけて背縁が稜をなす。尾節は先端部近くの側縁に可動棘が1本ある。雌の生殖器は後半部の縦溝が明瞭で，左右の前側角が丸みをおびている（図）。
採集記録：
水深45〜64m（多数）。
分 布：
アメリカ･チェサピーク湾およびバミューダ諸島からメキシコ湾，プエルトリコを経てブラジル北部。水深26〜71m。
Diagnostic characters：
Carapace and abdomen with fine, short appressed hairs; branchial region variably pubescent; antennal and hepatic spines distinct; hepatic and orbito-antennal groove distinct, but cervical groove shallow; a longitudinal obscure suture from above of bottom of orbit to median part of carapace. Rostrum reaching to about middle of antennal second segment; upper margin with seven to nine equidistant teeth; a deep emargination just in front of epigastric tooth; dorsal margin of carapace carinate except for short stretch near posterior border. A basal spine each on third maxilliped, first and second pereiopods. Abdomen carinate dorsally from posterior half of third segment to sixth segment. Telson with a short subterminal, movable spine on either side. Therycum of female with angulated anterior margin of median plate and rounded anterolateral angle of each lateral plate.
Distribution：
West Atlantic from Chesapeake Bay and the Bermudas through the Gulf of Mexico and Puerto Rico to northern Brazil, 26-71 m deep.
