特 徴：
（科）：胸鰭下部の3軟条は遊離する。下顎にひげがない。（属）：背鰭基底の両側に有棘楯状板がない。背鰭棘は10本。鰓蓋膜は鱗を被る。（種）：上唇を越える鋸歯状の吻突起があり，吻突起後端に後向きの強い1棘がある。第2，第3眼下骨にそれぞれ1棘がある。眼前棘は1本。眼上棘はない。眼後棘に三角形の突起が1本ある。前鰓蓋骨に長い1棘があり，その棘の基部に付加的な1小棘がある。鼻棘はない。胸鰭は中央部の軟条がその両側の軟条よりも短く凹形。胸鰭長は標準体長の38～41％。胸部の有鱗域は胸鰭最下部軟条の基部を結んだ線より前方へ越えないか，あるいはわずかに越える。背鰭の第4棘と第5棘の間に1黒斑がある。眼の上部に皮弁がない。眼窩径は頭長の21～22％。両眼間隔は眼窩径の48～54％。
分 布：

Distinctive characters：
(Family)：Three lowermost pectoral rays free. No barbel on lower jaw. (Genus)：No spinous plate on both sides of dorsal fin base. Dorsal spines usually 10. Scales present on opercular membrane. (Species)：Serrated rostral exsertion extending beyond upper lip, with a strong spine directing backwardly at its posterior end. Second and 3rd infraorbital bones with a spine respectively. Preocular spine single. No supraocular spine. A triangular projection present at postocular region. Preopercular spine with a supplemental small spine at its base. No nasal spine. Median pectoral rays shorter than upper and lower rays. Length of pectoral fin 38～41％ of SL. Scaly area on thorax not extending forwardly beyond bases of lowermost pectoral rays or slightly extending beyond them. A dark spot present between 4th and 5th dorsal spines. No fleshy flap on dorsal region of eye. Orbit diameter 21～22％ of HL. Interorbital width 48～54％ of orbit diameter.
