特 徴
（科）：口は斜位で，下顎は上顎より突出する。腹中線に稜鱗をもつ。側線はない。鰭に棘がない。胸鰭は亜胸位。（属）：腹鰭はない。背鰭は小さく，その起部は臀鰭起部のかなり後方で，臀鰭基底のほぼ中央。主上顎骨は後方に伸長し，後端は鰓孔に達する。体は強く側扁する。（種）：腹中線上の稜鱗列は胸鰭直下で断絶し，小さいギャップがある。
分 布：
トリニダッドからギアナ。
備 考：
本属の他の1種O. compressusでは腹中線上の稜鱗列が胸鰭直下で断絶せず，連続している。 （清水）
Distinctive characters
(Family)： Mouth oblique, lower jaw protruding from the upper. Scutes on ventral midline. No lateral line. No spine in fins. Pectoral fin subthoracic. (Genus)： No pelvic fin. Dorsal fin small, its origin far backwards from anal fin origin, located about midway of anal fin base. Maxilla elongated posteriorly, its tip reaching gill opening. Body strongly compressed. (Species)： Scute series on ventral midline discontinuous below pectoral fin.
Distribution：
From Trinidad to Guiana.
Remarks：
Another species in this genus O. compressus has continuous scute series on ventral midline, without gap below pectoral fin. (Shimizu)
