特 徴：
（属）： 体は紡錘形で，やや側扁する。尾側の各側に１隆起線がある。皮膚は円滑。腹部には隆起縁がない。側線は1本だが，著しく波状を呈し，体の背縁間近から腹縁間近までに及ぶ。腹鰭は退化的ではなく，1棘5軟条からなる。背鰭と臀鰭には5～7本の小離鰭がある。鋤骨と口蓋骨には歯がある。（種）： アブラソコムツ1種。
分 布：
太平洋，インド洋，大西洋の熱帯～亜熱帯水域。模式産地-ロードホー島（東オーストラリア）。 （藤井）
Distinctive characters：
(Genus)：Body fusiform, somewhat compressed. Caudal peduncle with a keel an each side. Skin smooth. Abdomen not keeled. Lateral line single, but greatly undulated, reaching nearly to both dorsal and ventral contours of body. Relvic fin not reduced, with one spine and 5 soft rays. Dorsal and anal fins each with 5～7 fin-lets. Vomer and palatine with teeth. (Species)：One species, Lepidocybium flavobrunneum.
Distribution：
Tropical to subarctic waters of Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic oceans. Type locality-Lord Howe Island. (Fujii)
