(Genus):Body fusiform, somewhat compressed. Caudal peduncle with a keel an each side. Skin smooth. Abdomen not keeled. Lateral line single, but greatly undulated, reaching nearly to both dorsal and ventral contours of body. Relvic fin not reduced, with one spine and 5 soft rays. Dorsal and anal fins each with 5〜7 fin-lets. Vomer and palatine with teeth. (Species):One species, Lepidocybium flavobrunneum.
Distribution:
Tropical to subarctic waters of Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic oceans. Type locality-Lord Howe Island. (Fujii)
