特 徴：
（属）：体は細長く，眼は小さい。側線は1本で，直線状。下顎の先端には円錘形の軟骨性突起がある。臀鰭第1棘は大きく，短剣形をしている。その後ろには第1棘より小さな2本の棘があり，互いに，さらに第1軟条とも完全に密着している。腹鰭は1棘5軟条。背鰭と臀鰭にはそれぞれ2本の小離鰭がある。鋤骨と口蓋骨には歯がない。皮膚は円滑。腹部には隆起縁がない。尾柄には隆起線がない。（種）：ハシナガクロタチ1種。
分 布：
大西洋，太平洋，インド洋の熱帯から亜寒帯水域。模式産地‐マデイラ（東部北大西洋）。
備 考：
本種は太平洋やインド洋では稀種であるが，スリナム水域では普通種である。 （藤井）
Distinctive characters：
(Genus)：Body elongate. Eye small. Lateral line single and straight. Tip of lower jaw with a conical cartilagious process. First anal spine large, dagger-shape, followed by smaller two spines which completely fused each other and also with the first soft ray. Pelvic fin with a spine and 5 soft rays. Dorsal and anal fins each with two fin-lets. Vomer and palatine without teeth. Skin smooth. Abdomen not keeled. Caudal peduncle without lateral keel. (Species)：One species, Nesiarchus nasutus.
Distribution：
Tropical to subarctic waters of Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. Type locality‐Madeira.
Remarks：
This species is rare in the Pacific or Indian oceans, but it is common in the waters off Suriname. (Fujii)
