Body depth 21.2〜23.4% of SL; caudal peduncle length 25.6〜26.1.
(Genus):Two separated dorsal fins, the first Z-[ and the second T, 9-10.
Anal fin rays U, 9. Pectoral fin moderate in length. No strong canines
near symphysis on both jaws. Scales ctenoid, deciduous. The main spine
of opercle either weak, flattened or strong, needle-like. Margin of subopercle
and interopercle serrated or smooth. Supramaxillary absent. Caudal fin
forked. Vertebrae 25. (Species):The main spine of opercle short, not so
strong. No teeth on tongue. Both jaws with short but distinct comb-like
teeth. First dorsal fin 8, rarely 7*. Gill rakers few, 17〜21*. Lateral line scales 46〜50*. Pyloric caeca 8*. Vertebrae 10+15. Body depth 19.7〜24.1% of SL; caudal peduncle length 22.0〜26.7*.
Distribution:
Warm waters of Indian and Atlantic oceans. Type locality-Sumatra.
Remarks:
