(Family):Body depressed. Ventral surface markedly flattened. Tail stout, distinct from the disc. (Genus): Ventral surface of body completely covered with spinules. Pectoral fin lobe separated from tail. Disc subtriangular in outline. Subopercular spine absent. No lateral-line pore on ventral surface of tail. Teeth present on jaws, tongue, palatine and vomer. Gill rakers, oval plate in form covered with small denticles, present on all 4 arches. Single row of tubercle-like scales present between anus and anal fin origin. (Species): Pectoral fin rays 11〜12, membrane thin and translucent, no fleshy pad on ventral surface of rays. Rostrum long, its length 30〜50% of DL. Main lateral-line pores 20〜22, subopercular series 5〜6, cheek series 8, premaxillary series 3. Head depth 2.0〜2.3, eye diameter 5.0〜6.0, mouth width 3.0〜3.7 in DL.
Distribution:
This species known from Caribbean Sea, off Suriname.
Remarks:
This is a small species in the genus, maximum SL about 70 mm (Bradbury, 1980). (Uyeno and Aizawa)
