Specimens examined：2 (DW 172, 334 mm; ♀2). Depth：475〜922 m.

　（科）：明瞭な背鰭2基をもつ。尾鰭は一般に良く発達する。腹鰭の内縁は尾部の側面と癒合しない。（属）：体盤前部の胸鰭鰭条先端は，吻端に遙かに達しない。吻軟骨は太く，吻端にまで達する。（種）：吻の中央は突出するが，その両側はわずかに湾入する。体盤腹面の外縁には，吻端から体盤外角部にかけて，数列の小棘が並ぶ。眼の後方から第1背鰭にかけての背中線上に大きな棘が1列に並ぶ。尾部ではこの1列の両側に各1列の小さな棘が並ぶ。鼻褶の後縁は細かく刻まれている。体盤背面は淡褐色で，噴水孔の側部，肩部，胸鰭後部に3対の大きな白色円形斑紋がある。体盤腹面は白色で，胸鰭，腹鰭の両後縁は幅広く黒い。 　メキシコ湾北部から報告がある。スリナム沖。 　体盤幅172mmの標本では体盤背面の白色斑紋は噴水孔側部のものを除き不明瞭である。　（上野・三宅） (Family)： Two dorsal fins. Caudal fin developed usually. Inner margin of pelvic separated from tail. (Genus)： Forward extension of anterior rays of pectoral fin not reaching as far as tip of snout. Rostral cartilage robust, extending to tip of snout. (Species)： Middle of snout produced, but the sides of it slightly concaved. A band of small thorns on lower surface from tip of snout to extreme outer margin of pectoral. Thorns of median row originated somewhat behind eye and extending to first dorsal; small thorns of lateral row present on tail. Nasal curtain fringed. Upper surface pale brown. Three pairs of prominent white markings on disc. Lower surface white; posterior part of pectoral and pelvic widely margined black. Reported from northern part of Gulf of Mexico. Off Suriname. In the specimen of 172 mm DW, white markings vague except those beside spiracles. (Uyeno and Miyake)
