イトマキボラ科（Fasciolariidae）

特 徴：
殻高85mm，殻径27mm。殻は堅牢，細長い紡錘形。凡そ7.5階あり，各層のふくれ方は弱い。殻は白色であるが，濃褐色の殻皮を被る。縦肋は低く，次体層では17を数えるが，体層では10以上は成長脉と混然する。螺肋はむしろ規則的で，ほぼ等間隔に配置し，弱い肩部上で多少強調される。間肋もある。次体層で主肋数は16〜18，体層は殻底に続くものも含めると40条以上になる。殻口は細長い洋梨形で，外唇は平滑，縫合下で僅かに狭まり後溝を作る。外唇内壁は白く細い螺肋がある。軸唇の滑層は反転し縫帯に及んでいる。この部分はいく分橙色を帯びる。前管溝は僅かに細まり，広く開き，いく分反る。
採集記録：
水深不明（生貝l）。
備 考：
本種は一見ガクフボラ科に見えるが，胎殻は小さく，外套は厚く内壁に螺肋を刻み，軸襞がない。
Diagnostic characters：
Height 85 mm, breadth 27 mm. Shell solid, elongate fusiform. Spires not so inflated, with low axial ridges, 17 on the penultimate whorl but diffused into growth lines on the body whorl. Spiral cords regular, a little emphasized on the shoulder, 16-18 on the body whorls with some secondary ones. Aperture elongate fusiform,with smooth outer lip, white with spiral ridges inside. Columellar lip with slightly orangy callus reflected over fasciole. Siphonal canal slightly narrowed, widely open, feebly recurved.

Off Suriname.
Remarks：
This species somewhat alike to Volutidae, but has very small protoconch and apertural inner wall with spiral ridges but no columellar folds.
