Height 156 mm, breadth 43 mm. Shell solid, spindle-shaped, about 12 whorls, with 8〜10 thick axial ridges overridden by several to 10 sharp spiral ribs. Surface white, covered with straw-colored periostracum. Aperture oval, with slightly crenulated outer-lip. Callus on the inner to columellar lips thick and raised forwardly a little. Siphonal long, straight, tapering anteriorly. Operculum leaf-shaped with anterior nucleus. Radula of rachiglossate type; central trapezoid with 3 cusps; lateral wide comb-shaped with 13 cusps except for small denticles on both tips.
Distribution:
Florida to Texas and off Suriname.
Remarks:
Abbott (1974) described that this species grows some 3 inches high, despite large specimens in the present material attained 16 cm, suggesting that they may belong to different local stock.
