特 徴：
殻高85mm，殻径37mm。殻は紡錘形，いく分薄く軽い。殻色は純白色。螺塔はやヽ高く，肩部は張り，各層に8条の縦張肋があり，肩は尖って反る棘をもつ。その下では2〜3本（体層で7本）の弱い螺肋と交ったところは小棘列又は波ひだ状となるほか，成長脉があるのみである。殻底には前管溝をとりまいて縦張肋の下（前）端に並ぶ棘列があり，標本によってはこれが二重列となっている。縫帯は縦張肋の末端が重り合い段がついている。殻口は丸く，外唇は最後の縦張肋に相当し，棘が肩と下唇にあり，間はいく分波うつ。内唇から軸唇にかけては薄い滑層を被る。水管溝は弱く反るが開いている。蓋は角質，蓋は前位。歯舌採集記録：
水深251〜650m（生貝多数）。

Diagnostic characters：
Height 85 mm, breadth 37 mm. Shell thin but solid, pyriform, pure white. Spire rather high with angulated shoulder. Varices 8 per whorl carrying sharp and recurved spine at shoulder and 2-3 slightly raised ripples (7 on the body whorl) below. One or two rows of spines at the bottom of varices, spirally encircling the base of siphonal canal. Fasciole stepped because of terminals of varices. Aperture oval. Outer-lip with spines on the shoulder and lower lip, crenulated a little. Thin callus deposited from inner to columellar lips. Operculum horny. Radula of stenoglossate; centel quadrate with 2 strong cusps between which 2 smaller cusps present; lateral triangular with sharply curved tip.

Off Florida and off Suriname.
