Height 28 mm, breadth 15 mm. Shell thick, solid, short fusiform, with spinous varix at every 120°. Two to three axial ribs present between adjoining varices, overridden by several strong and brown spiral ribs. Spines on varices so short that barely erected. Aperture oval, with short siphonal canal bearing only a sole spine at best. Operculum horny with anteriorly situated nucleus.

Caribbean Sea to Brazil.
Remarks:
Abbott (1974) took this species defected specimens of M. woodringi, but the present specimens persistenly have shorter canal.
