Height 115 mm, breadth 46 mm. Shell solid, fusiform, with moderately inflated whorls and constricted sutures. Varix presents at every 120°, forming spine or semi-tubular projection at the shoulder and with small spinlets, between which connected occasionally by pteroid shelly matters. Axial ribs between adjoining varices 4-8 in number, granulous at intersections with spiral ribs. Shell pale brownish with brown spiral stripes. Aperture oval, whitish within. Outer-lip coincides with the last varix, with low denticles inside. Columellar lip with callus reflecting over fasciole. Siphonal canal long, gently curved backwards, with 1-2 short spines, carries fused previous canal basally. Operculum horny.
Distribution:
Florida, Gulf of Mexico to Suriname and Brazil.
Remarks:
Younger specimens are darker in color. Senescent individuals mostly lost wings between spines on varices.
