Carapace and abdomen without any groove and carina; antennal spine sharp with its broad base, attaining median part of cornea in fossa; pterygostomian spine small, but distinct. Rostrum blade-like, with 13-17 spiniform teeth on upper margin and 3-8 spiniform smaller teeth on lower margin, gently curving upward; proximal 3-5 on upper margin are movable; all teeth directed forward and not protruded from general contour of rostrum; rostral carina extended backward onto about median part of carapace. Sixth abdominal segment about twice as long as the fifth, pleura of which is small and ends in a small spine.
Distribution:
West Atlantic from South Carolina through the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea to Brazil, and the East Atlantic from the Mediterranean and Spain to Angola, 330-1,350 m deep.
