特 徴：
（科）：体は細長く，円筒状。鰭に棘がない。背鰭は1基で，体中央部より前位。背鰭基底長は頭長より短い。腹鰭は腹位。脂鰭がある。発光器はない。頭部及び体部に鱗がある。側線鱗は肥大しない。（属・種）：腹鰭は8軟条で，内側の鰭条は外側のものより長い。臀鰭起部は胸鰭起部と尾鰭基底のほぼ中間にあり，尾鰭基底よりも腹鰭起部に近い。臀鰭基底長は体長の23％以下である。臀鰭は14〜16軟条。口蓋骨に1対の歯帯がある。体側に数条の緑青色と黄色の縦線が交互に走る。鰓孔上端付近に1黒点がある。
分 布
世界の熱帯・温帯水域の大陸棚及び海洋島の周辺に分布する。

Distinctive characters：
Body slender, cylindrical. Dorsal fin single, anterior to middle of body. Adipose fin present; photophore absent. Lateral line present, scales not enlarged. Pelvic fin rays 8, the inner ray much longer than outer ray. Anal fin origin about midway between base of caudal fin and pectoral fin, closer to origin of pelvic fin than to base of caudal fin; base more than 23% of SL, rays 14〜16. Palatine teeth in a single pair of bands. Upper flanks with several greenish blue and yellow longitudinal bands. A black patch on scapular.
Distribution：
A monotypic genus widely distributed from all warm seas in the world. (Uyeno and Aizawa)
