Upper jaw 12.3% of SL; eye 2.5; body depth 15.4; prepelvic 61.6; predorsal 82.1; preanal 80.4; P2 insertion to anal origin 19.2; dorsal fin base 12.5; anal fin base 15.0.
特 徴：
（属）：臀鰭起部は背鰭起部のほぼ下方にある。下顎は上顎より長く，上方へ強く湾曲する。両顎歯はそれぞれ1列で，すべて可倒歯。胸鰭は0〜3軟条。鋤骨に1〜2対の歯がある。（種）：背鰭と臀鰭の鰭膜は薄く，各鰭条は明瞭に見える。胸鰭は2軟条。吻端に発光斑がない。眼後発光器の長さは眼径の1.3倍。最初の3個の鰓弓に歯がある。胸部腹側発光器は23個。
分 布：
北大西洋の暖海域。模式産地-アゾレス諸島の西方沖。
備 考：
調査標本は重要な分類形質となる鬚が破損しており観察できない。歯数と腹鰭前部長も本種の特徴になると思われる。今までのP. braueriiの報告の中で，本標本は最も大きい。（藤井）
Distinctive characters：
(Genus)：Origin of anal fin more or less below that of dorsal. Lower jaw longer than the upper, strongly curved upward. Teeth on jaws all depressible, in a single row. Pectoral fin with 0〜3 rays. Vomer with 1〜2 pairs of teeth. (Species)：Membrane of dorsal and anal fins thin, the rays clearly visible. Pectoral fin with 2 rays. No luminous spot at tip of snout. POSTORB length 1.3 times of eye diameter. First 3 gill arches with teeth. PV 23.
Distribution：
Warm waters of North Atlantic. Type locality-off westward of Azores Islands.
Remarks：
In the examined specimen, an important character, the shape of the chin barbel, is not observable, because it is damaged. It seems that the dentition and the propotion of prepelvic length also become useful characters for identification. This specimen is the largest one in the records of P. brauerii. (Fujii)
