Specimens examined：2 (SL 356, 371 mm). Depth：550〜600 m.
Counts and measurements：D 19; A 24〜26; P1 11; P2 7. OV 41; VAL 19+4; IP 11; PV 41; VAV 17〜19+3; AC 9+3. Body depth 9.3〜10.0% of SL; HL 10.0〜11.2; barbel length 71.2〜84.5.
特 徴：
（属）：体は細長く，体高は通常，標準体長の約10％あるいはそれ以下。臀鰭起部は背鰭起部のほぼ直下。下顎の第1歯は大きいが，前上顎骨を突き刺すことはない。両顎側方部の外列歯は固着性である。胸鰭は10〜11軟条で，その第1鰭条は分離しない。鋤骨には1対の歯がある。（種）：鬚の先端1/5部分には糸状物が集まる節が3〜4個あるが，基部4/5の部分にはそれらが全くない。鬚の先端には多数の糸状物をつける白い発光体がある。
分 布：
スリナム沖。
備 考：
本標本の鬚の形は本属の中で独特であるが，この形質の成長変異が不明であるので，種の同定は検討中である。（藤井）
Distinctive characters：
(Genus)：Body elongate, its depth generally about 10% or less of standard length. Origin of anal fin more or less below that of dorsal. First tooth on lower jaw large, but never piercing premaxillary. Outer series of teeth on lateral part of jaws fixed. Pectoral fin with 10 or 11 rays; the 1st ray not separated. A pair of teeth on vomer. (Species)：Three or four knobs each with the concentrated mass of filaments on distal 1/5 of barbel, but those completely lacking those on the proximal 4/5. A white luminous body with many filaments at distal end of barbel.
Distribution：
Off Suriname.
Remarks：
The shape of the barbel of the present specimens is unique in the genus, but the identification to the species remains undecided because the growth variation of this character is unknown. (Fujii)
