Distinctive characters:
(Genus):Teeth on maxillary 6〜18, widely spaced, curved anteriorly or inwardly. Teeth on premaxillary and anterior dentary hastate, curved inwardly. Dorsal origin slightly posterior to pelvic insertion. Anal fin with 10〜19 rays. (Species):Teeth on maxillary 10〜18*. AC photophores forming a straight or slightly curved line. Postorbital luminous organ double. Barbel length less than 1.2 times of head length*. OV photophores 22〜25; VAL 23〜25*.
Distribution:
Tropical to subtropical waters of Atlantic and Indian oceans, and seas of Southeast Asia. Type locality-17°43′N, 64°56′W.
Remarks:
