Height 18 mm + x, breadth 19 mm. Shell thick, conical, with apical angle 65°. Earlier whorls not inflated but penultimate and body whorls inflated with round basal margin. Surface pale yellowish brown with spaced darker blotches along the periphery. Sculptures consist of granular spiral ribs, more than 10 on the penultimate and body whorls and some 20 on the base. Umbilicus perforated, margined by strong granules. Aperture rather oblique, with some 10 spiral ribs inside.

Off Brazil and off Suriname.
Remarks:
C. barbourt is close to this species in having small size and perforated umbilicus, but differs from the latter by flat lateral wall and peripheral keel.
