マダコ科（Octopodidae）
ウデボソダコ（新称）
Octopus defilippi Verany, 1851
特 徴：
全長25cmぐらい。外套膜は小さく，頭部はくびれる。腕が著しく細く長く，時には左右非対称のものがある。雄の右第3腕が交接腕で，舌状片は短く同腕の僅かに1.8～2.5％。半鰓葉は11。生鮮時は灰褐色。
採集記録：
水深328～600m（32個体）。
分 布：
カリブ海，スリナム沖，地中海。
備 考：
外套膜が細く，足も細いので一見して区別される。地中海の更に細い型にはO. defilippi damaの名がある。
Diagnostic characters：
Mantle small, 25 cm in total length. Head narrow, constricted. Arm extraordinarily
long, with hectocotylized arm at the right Arm Ⅲ in male. Lingula short,
with lingula index 1.8─2.5%. Half demibranchs 11. Grayish brown when fresh.
Distribution：
Caribbean Sea, off Suriname and the Mediterranean Sea.
Remarks：
The Mediterranean form is separated by Robson (1929) under the subspecific name, O. defilippi dama, because of slenderer mantle and arms.
