Mantle short, saccular, 2 cm in length. Ventral lobe extends as far as
the tip of the funnel. Fins large, oval, placed slightly obliquely. Arms
short except the Arm U which is long, flattened and lacks of suckers on
distal 60%. Other arms with 2 series of suckers. Tentacular club rather
slenderer than stalk, with numerous rows of minute suckers. A five-lobed
light organ lies in the mantle cavity. Color purplish brown with a dark
oval patch on the ventral mantle.
Distribution:
Cuba, Suriname and the Mediterranean Sea.
Remarks:
This species is easily separable from other members of this genus in having naked distal part of the Arm U.
