Mantle 5 cm long, short, saccular, about twice the width. Fins oval. Arms with 2 rows of suckers arranged rather sparsely. Left dorsal arm in male hectocotylized, with 10 pairs of normal suckers proximally followed by about 4 pairs of suckers of reduced size distally. A wide lateral membrane extends to about 3/4 of the arm on the ventral side. Tentacles with moderate club carrying 7─8 rows of suckers of which the dorsalmost suckers the largest. Color dark purplish and pigmentation extends over about half of basal fin.
Distribution:
Southern Frolida, Gulf of Mexico and off Suriname.
Remarks:
This species is separable from R. tenera in its larger size, smaller arm suckers and slightly enlarged suckers of dorsal side of tentacular club.
