(Family):Dorsal fin separated distinctly into spinous and soft portions. Pelvic fin thoracic. No fleshy keel on caudal peduncle. Mouth ending below anterior margin of orbit. (Genus):Anterior end of cephalic scaled area not exceeding beyond anterior margin of eye. (Species):Teeth on lower jaw close-set in position, those on upper jaw not close-set, shape differing between them. Body low, height about 31〜42% of body length. Lateral line along dorsal profile.
Distribution:
Atlantic, Pacific, Indian Oceans.
Remarks:
This is the only species having 35 vertebrae in this genus. (Shimizu)
