Body strongly compressed. Posterior parts of dorsal and anal fins rounded. Caudal fin truncate or slightly rounded. Dorsal half of body pale brown, ventral half white; a vertical black band extending from origin of dorsal fin through eye to opercular region; this black band edged with narrow yellow lines; dorsal part of snout black; a broad black band on caudal peduncle, extending to posterior part of anal fin; soft portions of dorsal and anal fins edged posteriorly with a narrow white line; caudal fin yellow with white base; pectoral and pelvic fins white.
Distribution:
Bahamas, West Indies, and off Suriname.
Remarks:
This species is similar to C. ocellatus but differs from it by having no dark rounded spot on the dorsal fin and the dorsal and anal fins rounded posteriorly. (Matsuura)
