Body elongate and moderately compressed, body depth 3.8〜3.9 in SL. Eye large, its diameter 3.8 in head length. Tooth patch on vomer triangular-shaped, not extended posteriorly. Pectoral fin falcate and elongate, its tip below 9th or 10th dorsal spine but not reaching to above anus. Interorbital space flat. Maxillary scaleless. Caudal fin forked. Body yellowish orange dorsally, silver ventrally; distal part of dorsal fin yellow; pectoral, pelvic, and anal fins pale; caudal fin yellowish orange basally and pale posteriorly.
Distribution:
Along the coasts of Panama, Colombia, and Suriname.
Remarks:
The genus Pristipomoides is distinguishable from Etelis by the scaleless maxillary. This species is separable from other species of Pristipomoides by the elongated body and the higher number of gill rakers.
