特 徴：
背鰭は2基あり，双方は広く離れており，その距離は両眼間隔に等しい。第1背鰭棘は8本。臀鰭棘は3本。胸鰭の長さは中庸。前上顎骨の先端に1本の長い犬歯があり，その後方に広い絨毛状歯帯が続く。歯骨には大小4～5本の犬歯がある。鱗は円鱗で離脱しやすい。側線鱗の脱落跡の模様は暗色で明瞭。主鰓蓋骨後縁には2本の弱い扁平棘がある。前鰓蓋骨の縁辺は鋸歯状。下鰓蓋骨と間鰓蓋骨の縁辺は円滑。眼下骨下縁は弱い鋸歯状。1本の細長い上主上顎骨がある。腹鰭棘の前縁は鋸歯状。背鰭と臀鰭の棘の前縁は円滑。
分 布：
スリナム沖。
備 考：
本種の特徴はスミクイウオ属のものとよく一致するが，背鰭と臀鰭の棘数，側線鱗数などが独特である。おそらく末記載種。 （藤井）
Distinctive characters：
Two widely separated dorsal fins, the distance between both equal to interorbital space. First dorsal fin with 8 spine. Anal fin with 3 spines. Premaxillary with a single, strong canine near symphysis, followed by a wide band of villiform teeth. Dentary with a row of canines. Scales cycloid, deciduous. Pocket of lateral line scales dark, apparent, Posterior margin of opercle with 2 weak, flat spines. Preopercular margin serrated. Margins of subopercle and interopercle smooth. Lower margin of infraorbital weakly serrated. A single, elongated supramaxillary present. Anterior edge of pelvic spine serrated. Anterior edge of spines of dorsal and anal fins smooth.
Distribution：
Off Suriname.
Remarks：
Distinctive characters of this fish well agree with those of the genus Synagrops. However, the fish is unique in the number of spines of dorsal and anal fins and lateral-line scales. (Fujii)
