(Genus):Dorsal spines 2. Body naked. One lateral line, running dorsal fin base. Pectoral fin axilla smooth, without pore and ovate glandular tissue. A sharp opercular spine anterodorsally to pectoral fin. (Species):All fin membranes brownish proximally, blackish from medial to distally, white extremely. Body dark brown. Diffuse black saddle-shaped blotches on body, 1 on orbital region and dorsal spine area, 3 on soft dorsal. No black spot except for the base of dorsal and opercular spines.
Distribution:
From Tobago to coasts of South America, San Salvador, Brazil.
Remarks:
There have been known the present species and T. montevidensis having white fin membrane margin in this genus. Ground body color with dark dots in the latter, uniformly dark brown in the present species. Interorbital width/SL is 70〜102/1,000 in the latter, 46〜74/1,000 in the present species (Collette, 1966).
