B. manglaeは眼隔域に糸状物があり,背鰭軟状数24以下,臀鰭軟条数21以下で,B. gilbertiは眉部に3本以上の触毛をもち,背鰭軟条数は24〜26,臀鰭軟条数は22〜23である(Collette and Russo, 1981)。 (清水)
Distinctive characters:
(Genus):Trunk with embedded small scales. Lateral lines 2. Opercular and subopercular bones with 2 spines. Dorsal spines 3. (Species):Supraorbital and interorbital region smooth, without any filament. Scaled area on head extending to middle of eye and opercular spine. Discrete pores on inner face of pectoral fin 9. Body brown, with black spots and saddle-shaped blotches. The present species has 28〜30 dorsal fin rays, 25〜27 anal fin rays, and 3〜11 discrete pores on inner face of pectoral fin (FAO, 1978).
Distribution:
Occurs from Honduras to Brazil.
Remarks:
B. manglae has filaments on interorbital region, fewer than 24 dorsal rays, fewer than 21 anal rays; B. gilberti has 3 or more tentacles on supraorbital region, 24〜26 dorsal fin rays, 22〜23 anal fin rays (Collette and Russo, 1981). (Shimizu)
