本属にはもう1種,太平洋岸産のL. punctatissima A. Milne Edwardsが知られているが,甲の後縁側端に鋭いとげがある。
Diagnostic characters:
Carapace almost smooth and diamond-shaped, with a lateral tubercle at each side, being rather depressed; dorsal surface with three longitudinal low ridges, viz., one median and two branchial ridges of both sides; each branchial ridge ends in a spinule or tubercle at median part of posterolateral border of carapace. Frontal margin feebly tridentate; front-orbital region weekly constricted behind orbit. Anterolateral border of carapace equal in length to posterolateral border, being very weakly convex and armed with five or six obscure teeth. Chelipeds slender, narrow, and fringed with soft hairs; both borders of merus with small teeth; about four on inner margin rather prominent; a small spine at distal end of outer margin; triangular teeth of equal size on outer margin of palm; inner margin of palm with close-set teeth or serration. Ambulatory legs long and unarmed.
Distribution:
Previously known from Jamaica and Puerto Rico, 10-70 m deep.
Remarks:
Another representative of the genus is the Pacific analogue, L. punctatissima A. Milne Edwards from the vicinity of the Lower California.
