Carapace a little longer than broad, being strongly convex dorsally; dorsal surface microscopically granulated and ornamented with a pair of curved rows of some eroded depressions and short furrows, each of which originated from shallow depression between hepatic and branchial borders to outer border of intestinal region. Front bidentate and directed obliquely upward. A tubercle at hepatic border, a similar one at median part of lateral border of carapace, and an indistinct one between them at anterior end of branchial border; a small, but sharp spiniform tubercle at posterolateral border of carapace; a similar, but much larger one at median part of posterior border of intestinal region; a depressed tubercle at lateral end of posterior border of carapace. Chelipeds long and covered with granules; merus cylindrical, and fingers longer than palm. Ambulatory legs long and stout.

Previously known from the West Atlantic from Massachusetts through the coasts of Florida and the West Indies to Venezuela, 90-510 m deep.
