Carapace orbicular and distinctly depressed anteriorly, being uniformly covered with fine granules and laterally with short hairs. Front not protruded from general contour of carapace. Seven tubercles on margins of carapace, but fairly variable in their development. A hepatic tubercle and a lateral tubercle of carapace nearly equal and obtuse at their tips, and in some specimens a conical prominence at the middle of the two tubercles; of three posterior spiniform tubercles the median one is usually longer than lateral two. Chelipeds and ambulatory legs slender; merus of cheliped covered with minute granules and bulged along for its proximal half; cutting edges of both fingers finely denticulate for their whole length.
Distribution:
Haiti, Trinidad, Suriname and Brazil, 9-35 m deep.
Remarks:
P. finneganae Rathbun is a synonym of this speces, since a tooth between the hepatic and lateral tubercles of the carapace is considerably variable.
