Distribution:
In the Argentine side, it is distributed on the continental slope from 40°S to 55°S at depths of 100 m to 1,000 m. In the Chilean Ptagonia, from 40°S to 52°S at depths of 100 m to 800 m.
Remarks:
This species was first recorded from South Africa (Penrith, 1965). Thereafter, it was also found from the southern New Zealand. Chilean species, Apterygopectus avilesi ojeda, 1978 based on specimens obtained by R/V 72 Akebono Maru (see Ojeda, 1978) seems to be a junior synonym to this species.
