特 徴：
（科）：体は側扁し，鱗がない。口が大きい。背鰭は2基。腹鰭は胸位。鋤骨に歯がない。（属）：口蓋骨歯は1列。体側にとげがない。鰓条骨6本。擬鰓がある。発光組織がない。側線は1～2個の小孔で断続する。顎歯は湾曲し，2列あり，内列歯が大きい。（種）：上顎の外列歯は13～17本，内列歯は7～9本。下顎の外列歯は15～22本，内列歯は7～10本。両顎の内列歯は基部が太く，前方に傾き，先端は内側に湾曲する。口蓋骨歯は7～11本。腹鰭は胸鰭起部より前方にある。胸鰭は11軟条。腹膜は黒色。
分 布：
スリナム沖。
備 考：
本種は歯の数及び内列歯の形態から，本属の他種と区別できる。 （上野・藍澤）
Distinctive characters：
(Family)：Body compressed, scaleless. Mouth large. Two dorsal fins. Vomer toothless. (Genus)：Palatine with a teeth row. Body side without thorn. Branchiostegal rays 6. Pseudobranchiae present. No luminous tissue. Lateral line openings represented by 1 or 2 pores. Jaw teeth curved, 2 rows, inner row teeth longer than outer ones. (Species)：Upper jaw teeth, outer row 13～17, inner row 7～9. Lower jaw teeth, outer row 15～22, inner row 7～10. Inner row teeth of both jaws, inclining forwardly, their tip curved inwardly. Plevic insertion anterior to pectoral insertion. Pectoral fin 11 rays. Peritoneum black.

Off Suriname.
Remarks：
The number of teeth and shape of inner row jaws teeth are diagnostic to this species. (Uyeno and Aizawa)
