(Family): Body rhomboidal, highly compressed, with small ctenoid scales. (Genus): Dorsal fin spines 8〜9. Anal fin spines 3. Mouth small, oblique. Caudal fin margin gently convexed. (Species): Body length about 1.3 of body depth. Dorsal spines 9, 3rd the longest subequal to orbit. Body color pink dorsally, silver ventrally. Soft dorsal and anal fin bases with scaly sheath. Radiating ridges on side of head.
Distribution:
From Gulf coasts of U. S. A. to north coasts of South America.
Remarks:
A. capros has extremely high body, depth longer than body length. Dorsal fin with 8 spines. These are diagnostic for A. capros. (Shimizu)
